Subaru’s EV family is growing quickly, and the newest member is also the most affordable. The 2026 Subaru Uncharted arrives as the brand’s smallest electric SUV, with a lineup that starts at $36,445 and tops out at just over $45,000. This price is well below the equally powerful versions of the Solterra, but still offers the kind of performance, range and all-weather capability that Subaru buyers expect. In other words, this isn’t just a cheaper EV option, but Subaru is quietly repositioning the entry point to its electric lineup.
The catch for value hunters is the Uncharted Premium FWD. It’s the only front-wheel-drive Subaru in decades and features a single electric motor producing 221 horsepower, paired with a package sized in the mid-60 kWh range that Subaru says can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 28 minutes using a DC fast charger. The real main number is range, with Subaru estimating a range of more than 300 miles on a full charge, giving the base Uncharted the longest range in the lineup. Subaru says the front-wheel-drive configuration will be built in limited numbers, which should only make it more attractive to buyers who like the idea of a somewhat rare trim that still comes with plenty of extras like 18-inch wheels, a 14.0-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, a 10-way driver’s seat and a power liftgate.
However, most buyers will likely be looking at the all-wheel-drive Uncharted Sport. Priced at $41,245, it features a second engine with a whopping 338 horsepower, which matches the output of the hotter Solterra variants but is less meaningful when compared to this SUV. You’ll have to sacrifice some range compared to the Premium, but Subaru still estimates around 285 miles on a charge, which is solid for a compact, dual-motor electric vehicle. The roughly $4,800 price increase over the base model doesn’t just bring traction and performance. The Sport trim includes additional equipment such as a 360-degree camera system, a digital rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, a power passenger seat, leatherette upholstery and roof rails that fit well with the Uncharted’s adventure branding.
At the top of the list is the Uncharted GT, which starts at $45,245 and pushes further into the premium EV space. It features the same 338-horsepower dual-motor setup as the Sport, with an estimated range of about 270 miles thanks to larger rolling stock and additional equipment. In return, buyers get a significantly richer interior and more visual drama. Subaru swaps out 20-inch wheels, upgrades the audio to a Harman Kardon system, adds a panoramic sunroof, and installs ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, making the GT feel more like a compact luxury electric vehicle than a minimalist outdoor runabout. An available two-tone paint job should also help it stand out in a crowded crossover parking lot.
What makes the Uncharted really interesting is the way it reshuffles Subaru’s electrical hierarchy. The Sport and GT trims offer the same 338 horsepower as the 2026 Solterra XT, but the Uncharted is priced below the larger SUV but offers more than competitive range and similar technology. Under the skin, it shares a lot in common with Toyota’s latest EV architecture, but the personality is pure Subaru: practical, slightly quirky, and tuned to real-world usability rather than boastful spec sheet. For buyers who like the idea of a Solterra but want something smaller, a little cheaper, and in some cases with a longer range for a fee, the 2026 Subaru Uncharted appears to be the sweet spot in the brand’s growing electric vehicle lineup.
