Elton John spoke openly with his husband about his upcoming summer plans David Furnish and their children – and a source says he can’t wait to put his health issues aside and enjoy the sun with his favorite people on earth, who want to spoil him with lots of fun and surprises.
“They’ll be at their villa in the south of France, that’s where they spend the summer, that’s where Elton is most relaxed. Once the school year is over and Zachary and Elijah are on vacation, they’re all going to fly to Nice and stay there until September,” a source exclusively tells Closer about the 78-year-old singer and his summer plans with his family of four.
“They’ll be spending part of the summer on a yacht in the Mediterranean, but Elton prefers to stay home. And David and the boys just want to make him happy,” the source adds. “It’s all about his well-being and really enjoying this time now.”
According to the source, Elton, who shares children Zachary, 14, and Elijah, 12, with David, 62, is also planning on having some of his famous friends come visit him this summer.
“One thing Elton loves is having his friends over, so a lot of invitations have gone out. David wants everyone Elton loves to come over,” the source says. “Elton is really excited…he’s like a kid when he has something to look forward to.”
This came after Elton opened up after experiencing vision problems as a result of a serious eye infection. He spoke about the disease for the first time in an Instagram post in September 2024.
“Over the summer I struggled with a serious eye infection which unfortunately left me with limited vision in only one eye,” he said in a statement at the time. “I am recovering, but it is an extremely slow process and it will take some time before the affected eye can see again.”

“I am so grateful to the outstanding medical and nursing team and my family who have taken such good care of me over the past few weeks,” the statement concluded. “I have spent the summer quietly recovering at home and am positive about the progress I have made so far in my healing and recovery.”
In April 2025, Elton shared an update on his condition, telling the Times: “I can’t read. I can’t see my boys playing rugby and football and it’s been a very stressful time because I’m used to taking everything in. It’s stressful.”
The “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” singer continued, “You get emotional, but you have to get used to it because I’m lucky to have the life that I have. I still have my wonderful family and I can still see something here.”
He said that due to his visual impairment, he “can’t see the TV” and “hasn’t been able to see anything since last July.”
